Williard Munger State Trail - this trail is the same route of the railroad that saved many lives in the 1918 fire that devastated the Hinckley - Barnum areas.
This state is named after Minnesota State Representative Willard Munger, a staunch supporter of environmental protection during his political career.
The Willard Munger State Trail is comprised of three segments: Hinckley - Duluth, Alex Laveau Memorial Trail, and the Boundary segment.
The Hinckley to Duluth segmented is paved for its entire 63 miles and extends through Duluth, Carlton, Mahtowa, Barnum, Moose Lake, Willow River, Finlayson, and Hinckley.
